What is Real-Time?
Real-time is one of the most abused terms in the field. FSMLabs uses real-time to mean: meets deadlines. So-called “soft real-time” means: often meets deadlines under certain loads. Our design philosophy is to try, whenever possible, to create system software that meets a clear specification reliably. The problem with “soft real-time” is that the specification is so vague that there is no way to be evaluate whether software does the job or not - until critical applications fail to perform.
